Policy statement on working with the Medical Device and Pharmaceutical Industry
The purpose of the AFA is to provide information about Atrial Fibrillation and Atrial Flutter that is freely available to all and written in a way that people can easily understand.
The AFA receives funding from a range of sources. These include successful grant applications, Department of Health grants, fundraising activities, educational grants from industry and donations from members.
The Charity acknowledges the support from medical device companies and the pharmaceutical industry. However we do recognize that relationships with these companies should be approached with caution. The AFA does not permit any company with a direct commercial interest in AF to influence its activities.
As the leading source for support and information for both patients and medical professionals on AF we seek to uphold our reputation for integrity and transparency in all we do.

Links to Third Party websites
The AFA website has links to third party websites and web pages, such as affiliate groups and organisations. These links are provided for further information, but are only given where consent has been granted and the site link content has been approved by the AFA. Third parties can seek permission and endorsement for links to be provided from the AFA website but the content of external websites and web pages are not usually under the control of the Atrial Fibrillation Association. These links are not necessarily permanent and can be advertised to members through various electronic communications.
AFA relies upon the expertise of the Medical Advisory Committe for publishing the best available data. In the first instance, AFA's preference is to use data that has been directly sourced or approved by one of its committe members. However, information produced by the NHS, NICE, arrhythmia societies and heart rhythm organisations provide a valuable source of national research, data and guidelines.
If you have any queries regarding our terms and conditions, please do not hesitate to contact the Atrial Fibrillation Association.
