There are a variety of challenges available from skydiving to marathon running; we can help you find the right challenge and support you along the way.

Trek, bike and mountain climb throughout the world

There are more than 100 challenges to choose from including trekking the Great Wall of China, Inca Trail, Everest Base Camp or to the summit of Kilimanjaro.

The Major is all about character,  it is not a run,  It is a major challenge.  Running, Mud, Water, Hills, Obstacles.  You must not let any of them stand in your way. 

 So if you would like to fundraise for AFA by participating in a wet and muddy experience, we guarantee you’ll love the experience. Choose from the 5k(ish) option or the 10k(ish) option, and come with enthusiasm and a smile to join the Major and his Troops for a Saturday morning in the country!

Just Walk 2013

Just Walk is an exciting sponsored UK charity walk for anyone wanting to fundraise for the charity of their choice. This fundraising walk is open to charities and anyone who is keen to get their walking boots on and hike for charity - you can choose either 10km, 20km, 40km or 60km routes - so something for everybody.  This charity walk offers enthusiastic walkers the chance to experience a breathtaking charity walk over the picturesque South Downs in West Sussex and generate funds for their chosen charity.  Now in its 7th year!

Moonriders

Experience the thrill of night cycling with these unique 100km challenges! A Friday night party atmosphere at the start, full hospitality en-route, and a celebration at the finish. Moonrides are open to all types of bikes and to riders of all abilities.

Cycle City to City on the London to Cambridge Moonride, tackle the iconic London to Brighton route in a completely different light. Recruit teams of friends, colleagues or come on your own and meet fellow Moonriders along the way.

London to Brighton Challenge

Saturday 25th - Sunday 26th May 2013

This is a challenge like no other! It will test stamina, fitness and endurance, with many challengers displaying amazing determination and emotion to take them all the way through the journey - 100KM; from fundraising in the lead up to the finish line in Brighton. The 2013 event will be big!

Pedal to Paris

Friday 21st -  Monday 24th June 2013 and Friday 6th -  Monday 9th September 2013

This long-weekend challenge links two great Europ ean cities, London and Paris, covering around 300km in just three days. We set off through the streets of south London and cycle through undulating countryside towards the south coast, before crossing into France by ferry. Once in France we enjoy sleepy Normandy villages with some challenging hills to conquer along the way, until we reach the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Free time to explore the sights of Paris, before boarding the Eurostar back to London.

Edinburgh Night Ride

Cycle 50 miles with a throng of like-minded cyclists, along the twists and turns of the streets of Edinburgh – lit by the moon and lights of the city.

Taking in the iconic sights of this beautiful city – the Royal Mile, the Castle, the Scott Monument – the route goes past Arthur’s Seat with stunning night views of the city from the Royal Observatory and past the Scottish Parliament and Holyrood Palace.

This is a rare chance to explore the nooks and crannies of the Scottish capital at a time when much of the traffic has abated – enjoy the merriment of night life at Grassmarket and Cowgate and the tranquility of the Georgian crescents and cobbled streets of New Town as you pass through in the moonlight.

Land's End to John O'Groats is the ultimate UK cycle challenge. But what's the best way to tackle it and make for an unforgettable experience? Thames Path Challenge

The Thames Path National Trail is unique, with its beautiful scenery, steeped in history. The trail serves as a superb backdrop for a simply exceptional challenge, and in September 2013, you can take it on as a walk or run, in aid of a charity of your choice.

  • 100 km – Putney to Henley. A tough 24 hour Endurance Walk or Ultra-Marathon run!
  • 50 km – A few options to suit all! Two daytime walks or runs, plus an overnight walk.

Big Heart Bike Ride

Friday 8th - 15th November 2013

The Big Heart Bike Ride is a very special and unique event - it is the first Open Challenge of its kind whereby everyone taking part will be raising funds for the heart charity of their choice.

You can make a real difference to AFA by signing up for the Big Heart Bike Ride in Jordan.

The Big Heart Bike Ride in Jordan entails five days of consecutive cycling for a distance of 350kms from Jerash to Petra via the Dead Sea. You will camp under the stars for two nights en route to the beautiful city of Petra.

 Trek Uganda

13th - 13rd October 2014

This amazing adventure takes us to Bwindi ‘The Impenetrable Forest’ in Uganda’s mountainous farsouthwestern tip where you will have the opportunity to track Mountain Gorillas. This action filled challenge starts in Mgahinga National Park where you will trek up Mount Sabinyo 3,645m one of he region’s inactive volcanoes. You will have the opportunity to get up close to another endangered species, the Golden Monkey in its natural habitat of bamboo forest. Local tribesmen will pilot dug-out canoes as we traverse Lake Mutanda and saving the best until last you trek into Bwindi ‘the impenetrable forest’ home to one of the richest ecosystems in Africa, in search of the habituated Mountain Gorilla families.

Observing Mountain Gorillas in their natural habitat should be at the top of everyone’s ‘To Do List’. Only 700 Mountain Gorillas remain in the wild so opportunities to get close to these magnificent creatures are extremely limited.

Trek Uganda is open to people of all ages and from all walks of life who will come together to do something amazing.
